Jacqueline Fernandez was born in Manama and grew up in a mixed-ethnic, multiracial family. Her father, Elroy Fernandez, is from Sri Lanka. There are two older brothers, and two younger ones. The 80s were the time when her parents fled to Bahrain because of civil war in Sri Lanka. This is why she was both born and raised in the country. When she finished her studies in Bahrain, she was awarded the Scholarship to study at the University of Sydney, where she pursued a degree in Media and Communications in Sydney, Australia. She also attended the Berlitz school of languages, which helped her improve on French, Arabic and Spanish. She was also crowned Miss Sri Lanka 2006 for Miss Universe 2006 on March 6th, 2006 and also was a contestant at Miss Universe 2006. In the wake of her winning the 2006 Miss Sri Lanka win, Padukone stepped into the world of television and hosted a show about Sri Lankan business named Lanka Business Report. Padukone (the child of the badminton player Prakash Padukone) was born and raised in Bangalore. When she was a teenager she competed at national-level badminton competitions, but quit the sport and became a fashion designer. Padukone is from Mangalore, and her mother tongue is Konkani. Her ancestors come from the town of Padukone located in Kundapura Taluk, in the Udupi district of Karnataka state of India. Prakash Padukone was a badminton legend, who retired in the 80s. She has a mother who runs who worked for a travel agent, is also from this village.
